In the 2000s when Web-based GIS system (hereinafter referred to a WebGIS) began to be introduced in Japan, it was a revolutionary system that saved initial/update installations and its resources; WebGIS permitted all systems/data in the server to be installed, processed, and managed. But in the 2010s, we have had increased demands for capabilities in the "cloud (Web) environment" that are difficult to offer with conventional WebGIS. Accordingly, Informatix has started to develop a new core software to provide the cloud GIS service, "GeoCloud". GeoCloud is an advanced product that has been developed on the basis of these users' needs.
